No matter which industry you operate within, it is important that you make the most of any media coverage.  In an ideal world, a journalist will call you, ask about your recent success, you can tell them everything they want to know, and a glowing piece of editorial will appear in the daily news.  It’s great when that happens!

However, it doesn’t always work like that.  When your business is young, you will need to work hard to be noticed.  And, then when you do engage a journalist, you will need to educate them about your business.  They will be looking for a story which people will want to read, so you need to find something interesting to tell them – something which is relevant to their readers.

And sometimes it doesn’t go your way.  They might pick up on something which can be spun into a negative story, which you need to manage.  This is particularly true if there is a political angle to your work, or where you could possibly seen to be profiting from other people’s misfortune.  Then there are the PR disasters, where your organisation might have been involved in a legal battle which you don’t want to broadcast to the world, or where a product or service somehow when wrong.

All of these situations should be managed to ensure that your business maintains the best reputation, and to ensure that you take advantage of any positive press coverage.  We can:

  • Media-train your executives, ensuring they are fluent in the messaging for the situation

  • Proactively build your reputation in the media, through our many contacts in the press

  • Build a crisis communications plan, so you are prepared if anything goes wrong.

Good media coverage can do wonders for your brand and your organisation’s success – we would love to talk to you about building your reputation and media presence.
